The Elusive Saharan Cheetah

The Saharan Cheetah was captured on camera. This elusive cheetah is one of the most rare big cats in the world. It is even more rare to see them in the daylight! Michael Scantlebury of Queen's University Bellfast was interviewed by the Discovery News. "If you can imagine walking up and down sand dunes in high temperatures day in, day out, with no water to drink, you start to get a feel for how challenging these cats' daily lives are, and yet they remain remarkably adapted and resilient," he said. Scantlebury has studied many cheetahs living in desert environments, including the Saharan and the Kalahari.
